Founded as Niwa Elektrotechnisch Installatiebedrijf on 1 April 2005 by the then only 25-year-old Armand Nizet, together with his partner Sebastiaan van Wamel in the garage of their home in Geleen.
Originally an electrician, Armand completed his electrotechnical education from the LTS and then the VEV (Nijkerk) to lastly have worked as an Electrotechnical Engineer at the Nutsbedrijven in Maastricht as a technician OV-VRI (Openbare Verlichting en Verkeersregel Installaties) and the Fraud Detection Team.
The company name NIWA originated from the amalgamation of the first two letters of the surnames of Armand and Sebastiaan as owners of the new installation company specialising in electrical installations for home and industry.
Since the establishment of NIWA in April 2005, the work was mainly focused on classic electrical installations as seen in renovations and conversions of homes and commercial properties. A 24-hour breakdown service was also available to all customers.
However, Armand had the vision to specialise in the automation of gates, fences, doors and barriers with the associated access control and communication solutions such as biometric access, access via of course all classic options such as the video intercom.
As one of the first companies, NIWA therefore introduced the possibility of access control via GSM by using the GSM number as a unique control number when dialing in to an automatic gate.
In 2008, it was therefore decided to rename the company name Niwa Elektrotechnisch Installatiebedrijf to NIWA Elektrotechniek & Automatisering and entered into cooperation with various suppliers for the automation of gates, doors and barriers such as BFT, CAME, BENINCA and ELKA.
Since 2008, NIWA has focused entirely on the automation of gates, doors and barriers and has thus managed to get a foot in the door of many housing cooperatives and property managers in Limburg but also beyond.
With the company's new direction also came growth in the number of staff and this therefore meant more company vehicles and the need for larger premises. In August of that year, it was therefore decided to move to Brandstraat in Einighausen.
Besides specialising in supplying, installing and maintaining automatic gates and barriers, the demand for service and maintenance for automatic doors was high. Armand saw this as a great opportunity and thus discovered a new market for NIWA's growth and development, the automatic doors specialisation was born.
From the beginning, NIWA also repaired the occasional automatic door here-and-there. The technology was nothing new but by winning a service and maintenance contract for 140 automatic doors from a housing cooperative in Maastricht in 2010, Niwa Automatic Doors was a fact!
A lot has happened since NIWA was founded in 2005, great projects were developed and the order portfolio was still well filled. However, due to developments on the labour market, well-trained staff became very scarce.
On the European market of automation and automatic doors, NIWA was only a relatively small player with 7 employees. Staff are regularly snatched away by the "big boys" and in order to ensure continuity and obligations to customers, at the end of 2018 Armand and Sebastiaan decided to look for an acquisition party in the world of automatic doors.
A takeover party was found in February 2019 as a result of which Niwa Elektrotechniek & Automatisering and Niwa Automatic Doors were transferred to the new owner from 1 October 2019 which is quite appropriately one of the aforementioned "big boys".
After the transfer of Niwa Elektrotechniek & Automatisering, Armand and Sebastiaan decided to leave the Netherlands and moved to the French Dordogne in November 2019 to start a new phase in their lives in the tourism sector.
A large country house with water mill, reservoir, outbuildings and two holiday homes on behalf of "Le Domaine du Moulin Neuf 1605" has been purchased which will be transformed into a real holiday domain.
In the period from 2020 to 2024, Armand and Sebastiaan's new plans came to fruition and the realisation of a nature campsite and the rental of the holiday homes "Gîtes". With immigration having succeeded and blood creeping where it cannot go, Armand has decided to start an installation company again.
From the first day of immigration to France, Armand was increasingly asked to use his professional knowledge and expertise with "fellow countrymen" (Dutch people in France).
From 1 October 2023, Niwa Accès Solutions therefore started as a one-man business run by Armand Nizet to officially offer his services and expertise as a French company (Micro Entreprise).
The new name NAS was created by Niwa Accès Solutions and is thus a nod to NIWA Electrical Engineering & Automation and Niwa Automatic Doors.
